Heritage Board Reelects Head

Dr. Amarjit S. Marwah has been reelected president of the Cultural Heritage Commission, a division of the city’s Cultural Affairs Department, and Velma Marsh Taylor has been reelected vice president.

Marwah has been a Cultural Heritage commissioner since 1981 and served his first term as president last year. He has been a guest lecturer at USC’s School of Dentistry, UCLA and Bombay University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in dental surgery. He earned graduate degrees from the University of Illinois and Howard University.

Taylor has been a member of the Cultural Heritage Commission since 1974. She spent 38 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District before retiring in 1980. Recently, she has been a consultant to the school district.
