Mozart: “The Magic Flute.” Paramount/Bel Canto. $59.95. Ingmar Bergman’s ode to Mozart and Schikaneder retains its poignance, its charm and its sense of innocence after 13 years. Unburdened by operatic tradition or cutesy cliches, Bergman treads a precarious line here between reality and fantasy, and ends up serving both with imagination and conviction. The music-making may tend to be competent rather than virtuosic, but the inherent style, wit and warmth make that irrelevant. This isn’t just one of the best opera films ever made; it is one of the best “Magic Flutes” ever seen. Mellifluous Swedish with English subtitles. Information: (213) 468-5000.
