Scarred Woman Kills Student She Blamed for Disfigurement
A severely scarred woman burst into a crowded classroom and opened fire with a pistol, killing a woman student who she said had left her disfigured, and then fatally shot herself, according to police.
Shamette Allen, 20, of New Orleans, was shot three times Monday night with a .38-caliber pistol and killed in front of about 50 people in a typing class at the Coastal Training Institute, police said.
The assailant was identified today by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s office as Cindy Marie Piccot, 21, of New Orleans. Police said Allen had been arrested in 1985 and charged with pouring gasoline over Piccot during a New Year’s Day argument and setting her afire but was not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence.
