Strains of “American Patrol” will no longer lilt from the stomach of a boxer pup named Fudge.

The year-old dog underwent surgery today for removal of a boy’s alarm watch that was programmed with the classic Glenn Miller arrangement and went off each day at 6:45 a.m.

Fudge, who belongs to 13-year-old Marcus Waters, apparently swallowed the boy’s watch Sunday after it was left on a table, Marcus said.

“At 6:45 Monday morning, Mom said she heard the watch go off in the kitchen, and we looked all over but couldn’t find it. She heard it again the next morning and we began to think the dog had eaten it.”

Marcus was looking forward to getting his “American Patrol” watch back. “But it came out in pieces,” he complained.
