WASHINGTON — President Reagan has nominated Maj. Gen. Thomas G. McInerney for promotion and assignment as vice commander-in-chief of U.S. Air Forces in Europe, the Pentagon said Wednesday. McInerney, 49, would replace Lt. Gen. Carl H. Cathey, who will retire Oct. 1.
