The caveats raised by Voland regarding the compact disc are not justified.

I have a fairly sophisticated turntable/cartridge assembly and quite frankly find it a bore. The efforts to enjoy the music on vinyl are simply no longer worth the time invested. First the record must be cleaned and then it must be turned over every 15 or 20 minutes.

And the sound of analog on vinyl to me is as much a gamble as digital CD. I am not talking about the sound merits of analog versus digital. I am referring to the sound heard from the vinyl product available in the mass market.

I find it amazing that Voland and other CD detractors can tune into the so-called “lifeless” sound of a CD and completely tune out every tick and pop inherent in even the finest vinyl. I’ll take the possibility of lifeless sound (usually controllable with the tone controls) over ticks and pops any day.
