Roadblock

I am stuck on the San Diego Freeway southbound near San Juan Capistrano as I write this. It is 10:32 a.m. on Aug. 29, the beginning of the last big weekend of the summer, Labor Day weekend. The California Department of Transportation is doing roadwork, and the two right lanes are closed.
Caltrans workers must have an extremely morbid sense of humor. Maybe they sit around and make bets about how many accidents they can cause or how many people they can make angry, or maybe they just count how big a parking lot they can create.
Caltrans workers are California employees, and I’m tired of paying salaries to people with mush for brains.
