A federal employees’ union today filed suit to block the mandatory federal worker drug-testing program announced by President Reagan as the cornerstone of his attack on drug abuse.

The National Treasury Employees Union, in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, asked the court to declare the order in violation of the Constitution’s 4th Amendment provision for freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. The union represents about 120,000 Customs Service and Internal Revenue Service employees.
