A San Bernardino man and his wife have been convicted in Los Angeles federal court of charges of kidnaping two sisters from a Mexican carnival and holding them for years as child sex slaves.

Andro Garcia, 46, was found guilty Monday after a one-week non-jury trial at which both sisters testified about years of sexual abuse, beatings and threats at the hands of Garcia and his wife, Marge, 34.

Marge Garcia was convicted Tuesday on similar charges. She had claimed that she was also a victim of her husband’s sexual abuse, and not an accomplice.

U.S. District Judge Robert Takasugi set sentencing for Oct. 27. Both face maximum life prison terms.

Norma Aguilar, 21, and her sister Olga, 20, testified that Marge Garcia lured them away from their siblings while the children were at a neighborhood carnival in Tijuana in 1975.
