DOLGEN TO HEAD FOX TV DIVISION
In what is considered a further expansion of his power as the No. 2 man at Fox Inc., Jonathan Dolgen on Wednesday was named president of the newly formed television division of 20th Century Fox Film Corp.
Fox Inc. Chairman Barry Diller, in making the announcement, cited the need for a “key senior executive” to oversee both the TV production division, headed by Harris Katleman, and the distribution arm, headed by Michael Lambert.
The new TV division brings together under one wing Katleman’s and Lambert’s departments. “What we’re trying to do is establish a focus for all the TV operations,” Dolgen said.
Dolgen, who retains his title as executive vice president of Fox Inc., theoretically was already above Katleman and Lambert in the Fox hierarchy, but Katleman didn’t report directly to him until Wednesday’s announcement.
Dolgen, who was brought to Fox by Diller, was formerly president of domestic operations for Columbia Pictures.
