Rehnquist Ticket

Share

An Associated Press item tells of Supreme Court Justice William H. Rehnquist being ticketed by the police of Arlington, Va., earlier this month for driving 41 m.p.h. in a 30-m.p.h. zone. He was cited for excessive speed, failing to have his car registration in his possession and for failure to update his driver’s license.

I am supposing that his excuse for these violations is that he couldn’t remember to update his license and to carry his registration as we are all required to do-- by law .

Do you think we ordinary citizens can get away with this lame excuse? It seems to have worked for him in that he can’t remember harassing black voters waiting to exercise their right to vote, etc.

If he gets away with this excuse each time, there is hope that we ordinary citizens who do likewise, may qualify for the highest legal office in the land.
