Juan Antonio Samaranch, president of the International Olympic Committee, said that the IOC is willing to continue negotiations until September, 1987, on North Korea’s bid to be host for some events of the 1988 Olympics at Seoul.
But Samaranch said the North Koreans will have to accept free movement between North and South Korea of “all people belonging to the international Olympic family,” including the press, if they want some of the events to be staged in North Korea.
