UCLA Regains Tight End Derek Tennell but Loses Tailback Eric Ball to Injury

Share

The UCLA Bruins got one player back for the San Diego State game when tight end Derek Tennell rejoined the team, but lost another when tailback Eric Ball pulled a hamstring muscle in practice.

Tennell, a two-year starter and a senior, began the season as a scholastic casualty, but regained his eligibility for the rest of the season when he improved his grades during the second summer semester.

UCLA Coach Terry Donahue said Tennell will probably be in the starting lineup Saturday night at San Diego State.

Ball won’t make the trip. He did not play in the Bruins’ opener against Oklahoma in Norman because of a bruised knee, an injury that still bothered him in practice this week when he pulled the hamstring.
