Continuing its management reshuffling, 20th Century Insurance has divided its operations into two: a field operations group and a financial and corporate control group.
The company said G. Robert Thompson, an executive vice president who until recently was the company’s president, will be in charge of the financial and corporate control unit. It handles such areas as investments, planning and budget, actuarial services, information services, the controller’s office, accounting and administrative services.
The company said its new president, Neil H. Ashley, will directly supervise the field operations unit, which is in charge of legal, claims, underwriting, operations, human resources, corporate relations and marketing areas.
The insurer also announced that William L. Mellick and Paul S. Castellani were promoted from vice president to senior vice president. Mellick, who had been in charge of operations, was given the added duty of overseeing marketing. Castellani continues to oversee the claims division.
Based in Woodland Hills, 20th Century sells automobile and homeowners insurance to low-risk customers in California.
