Irvine : House Guest Shot While Trying to Break Up Fight
A house guest staying with friends was shot while attempting to break up a fight between his hosts, police said Tuesday.
Simon Peter Clark, 22, who was visiting from Ireland, was at the home of his fiancee’s sister and her husband, when he was shot in the chest about midnight on Monday, Sgt. Richard Bowman said.
His hosts, Faris Helal Thani, 38, and his wife, who was not identified, were arguing when Thani allegedly grabbed a gun and shot Clark after he tried to intervene, Bowman said.
Clark was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was in serious but stable condition, police said.
Police arrested Thani, who was booked into County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
Bowman said he did not know what started the argument.
