Missouri authorities said a fugitive sought in a three-state rampage of murder and abductions might have been wounded in a gunfight with policemen the night of the slayings. Four of six shots fired at Michael W. Jackson, 41, during a Monday night shoot-out hit the stolen car Jackson was in, Highway Patrol Lt. Paul H. Jones said. Two of the bullets that hit the car have not been found, and bloodstains were discovered on the steering wheel, he said.
