Boy’s Leg Broken When Mother Fights Gator That Bit Him

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. —
A 12-year-old boy snorkeling in a river was bitten by an alligator, then chased to shore where his mother yanked him to safety in a tug-of-war with the reptile that broke the child’s leg, authorities said.
Michael Morgret was listed in fair condition Friday with puncture wounds to the scalp from the bite and a compound break of the lower left leg.
“It was awful to see a gator chasing your kid,” said Jessie Morgret, a 38-year-old teacher’s aide. “I could just see it swallowing him.”
