A Spring Valley man was killed early Monday when the car he was driving was sideswiped on Jamacha Road near Hillsdale Road in an unincorporated area southeast of El Cajon.
Lawrence Hill, 30, died of massive head injuries at Grossmont Hospital at 6:30 a.m., Deputy Coroner Charles Kelley said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Hill was northbound on Jamacha Road at 5:41 a.m. when his car was sideswiped by a pickup truck driven by Stephen Mounger, 30, of El Cajon. Mounger, who was not injured, was driving south when his brakes locked, sending the vehicle skidding out of control into the oncoming lane, a CHP spokeswoman said.
