Clerk Admits Theft From Senate Panel
Katherine Bidden, former chief clerk of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, pleaded guilty today to a charge that she embezzled more than $5,000 in travel funds from the panel over a 4 1/2-year period.
Bidden, 41, quit her $32,085-a-year job last March. She faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when she is sentenced next month. Her guilty plea resulted from an internal investigation ordered by Sen. William V. Roth (R-Del.), the subcommittee chairman.
