AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: What comes along about as often as a new Randy Newman album? A rock record with a warning sticker. Prince, Madonna and even Motley Crue have all managed to release albums this year without an “explicit lyrics” tag, thanks to an industry compromise last year with the PMRC that allows record labels to decide for themselves what constitutes explicit lyrics. But if you want to see what a real warning sticker looks like, you can find one on local faves Fishbone’s album “In Your Face,” which is due in the stores this week from CBS Records. The band’s album jacket has a sticker which warns: “Explicit Lyrics-Parental Advisory.” According to a group spokesman, the album contains several songs with “raw” lyrics. Produced by David Kahane, the new record contains such songs as “Knock It,” “ ‘Simon Says’ the Kingpin,” “Cholly” and a loopy, Sousa-marching band-style instrumental called “Post Cold War Politics.” . . . Halloween is still weeks away; Thanksgiving is a distant blip on the radar screen, but we’ve already a Christmas album on our doorstep. Called “The Animals’ Christmas,” it’s a collection of a dozen new Jimmy Webb songs performed by Art Garfunkel and Amy Grant. The Webb cantata, which tells the Nativity story from the point of view of its animal witnesses, also features musical accompaniment by the London Symphony Orchestra, the Kings College School Choir and a vocal solo by Declan Costello. . . . And early rising honky-tonkers take note: KCRW-FM’s “Citybilly” show moves to a new time slot today, airing from 6 to 9 a.m. each Sunday. Today’s live in-studio guest will be Riders in the Sky, with country legend Rose Maddox to follow next week.
