The California Assn. of Minority American Contractors has awarded Evan Williams, president of Dalton Construction Co., the Golden Hammer Award for Contractor of the Year.
Dalton Construction is the first black-owned development firm to receive the prestigious award from CAMAC. Hispanic firms had received this recognition in the past 15 years.
Evan Williams was selected from 13 finalists. His firm, in operation for 25 years, has won the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s award for superior effort in utilization of minority contractors on HUD projects.
It has received an Army commendation for construction of 11 units of Military Officers’ Quarters at Fort Irwin and an award from the city of Las Vegas for construction of a detention and correctional center, a facility that was under court order with a completion deadline and was finished ahead of schedule. The construction firm has also built various multifamily complexes in California and Nevada.
