Federal Judicial Police in Tijuana have arrested four men in connection with Monday’s seizure of three tons of marijuana found on a water transport truck near Rosarito Beach, authorities said.
Salvador Perez Peralta, commander of Interpol, estimated the value of the drug at 5,000 million pesos, or about $6.5 million.
Arrested were Homero Moreno Valdez, 33; Hector Manuel Fernandez, 32; Jesus Huberto Arriaga Ramirez, 29, all from Culiacan, Mexico, and Jose Arturo Ceja Martinez, 31, of Tijuana.
The truck was bound for Tijuana when it was seized at 5 p.m. at the 24th kilometer of the Tijuana-Rosarito Beach highway, authorities said.
According to Perez, the drug was destined for California.
