AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: Slayer and the Beastie Boys aren’t the only groups in hot water these days. John Fogerty has had his album, “Eye of the Zombie,” banned in Singapore, where government censors have complained about the inclusion of a song titled “Violence Is Golden,” which they say could promote violence. According to a spokesman for Warner Bros. Records, Fogerty’s label, the government refuses to allow the album to be released unless the offending song is removed from the record--an order Fogerty has refused to comply with. . . . We’ve seen sound-track albums released to coincide with new films, and even a new season of “Miami Vice,” but now Antilles Records is issuing a sound-track album to accompany the controversial nine-part PBS series, “The Africans.” The record, also titled “The Africans,” includes music by native African artists Fela, King Sunny Ade, Toure Kunda, Lonesi Chewane and (our favorite pop name of the month) Youssou N’Dour et le Super Etoile de Dakar. . . . And if you can’t bring a little bit of Hollywood to Malibu, then you’ll have to settle for “The Beach Comes to Hollywood,” a live multimedia music event which unfolds Friday at the Lhasa Club. Scheduled to begin at 10 p.m., the show will feature Surf Punks videos, surf films by aqua-auteur Hal Jepsen and a live performance by surf-rockers Secret Spot.
