A Ventura teen-ager has been charged with second-degree murder in the LSD overdose death of a high school acquaintance. Eric Castaneda, 16, is charged with giving a lethal dose of the drug to Porfino Gurrola, 15, said Ventura County Deputy Dist. Atty. John Doboth. A trial date has not been set. Last month Castaneda allegedly purchased the drug and then shared it with Gurrola, who became violent, kicking in a window and cutting his leg, police said. The youth, taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Ventura County Juvenile Hall, was so violent he had to be restrained, authorities said. He was later rushed back to the hospital, but slipped into a coma and died. Homicide detectives are trying to find out where Castaneda obtained the drug.
