Costa Mesa : Applicants Sought for Panel on Airport Noise

The City Council is seeking applicants who would like to serve on the county Noise Abatement Committee for John Wayne Airport.

The council will appoint one person, representing the general community, to serve on the committee.

Beside the community representative, other members of the noise-reduction study group will be from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Air Carrier Operators, the Fixed-Base Operators (owners of airplane rental businesses) and the staff of John Wayne Airport.

"The representative appointed by the City Council will serve as a focal point for the questions and concerns of individuals and homeowner groups in the City of Costa Mesa and provide input in this area to the committee," a spokeswoman for the city manager's office said.

"The representative will also be responsible for expediting responses and feedback to concerned citizens in the city."

Those interested in applying should submit a letter and resume to the city manager, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa, 92626. The deadline for applications is Oct. 24.
