A Torrance nursing home accused of maintenance problems, including insects in the patients’ rooms, has agreed to pay $21,750 to settle a consumer protection lawsuit, a district attorney spokesman said. The Del Amo Gardens Sanitarium and Convalescent Hospital at 22419 Kent Ave. agreed to pay the civil penalties and costs under a stipulated judgment signed in Los Angeles Superior Court, district attorney’s spokesman Al Albergate said. The operators also agreed to repair plumbing, furniture and exhaust fans, eradicate the insects in patient rooms and clean the ceilings and walls, Albergate said. The home was not accused of providing inadequate care to the patients, he said.
