President Reagan’s approval rating among blacks has tripled from about 8% to nearly 25% since 1984, according to a poll by the Gallup Organization for the Joint Center on Political Studies. The survey also shows that black identification with the Democratic Party has weakened, from 56% to 49%, but that 83% of black voters are likely to back Democratic candidates in 1986, about the same percentage as two years ago.
