McGraw-Hill reported an 8.5% increase in third-quarter profit. The New York-based diversified publishing concerns said that all of its operating units had revenue growth and the acquisition of Economy Co. in July helped offset a relatively flat college market for the McGraw-Hill Book Co. Quarterly income benefited from a decrease in the estimated full-year effective tax rate, McGraw-Hill said.
