Saturday: A $100-per-person “Democratic Roundup,” the Orange County Democratic Party’s election year fund-raiser, will be held at 1 p.m. at the San Juan Capistrano ranch of Richard J. O’Neill. In attendance will be U.S. Sen. Alan Cranston, Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, Lt. Gov. Leo T. McCarthy, Atty. Gen. John K. Van de Kamp, Secretary of State March Fong Eu, Assemblyman Gray Davis, outgoing state Controller Kenneth Cory and Orange County Democratic congressional, state Senate and Assembly candidates. Sunday: Lt. Gov. Leo T. McCarthy will be the guest of honor at a fund-raising reception organized by Irvine Mayor Larry Agran and Roy and Paula Werner. The coffee and dessert reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at 28 Fox Hill in Irvine. Cost is $25 per person. Reservations may be made by calling (714) 857-5730.

Tuesday: Candidates for seats on the Newport Beach City Council will address a meeting of the Women’s Civic League of Newport Harbor at 10 a.m. at the Mariner’s Library in Newport Beach. Wednesday: Gail Hutton, Huntington Beach city attorney, will address the Democratic Club of West Orange County at 7:30 p.m. at the Progressive Savings & Loan Assn. building, 19900 Beach Blvd. in Huntington Beach. Hutton, who is running for reelection against Ted Johnson, will discuss two controversial initiatives that will be on the ballot in November: Propositions 61 and 64. The meeting is public.
