Adult Bookstore Agrees to Curb Lewd Conduct

After they were sued for creating a public nuisance, the owners of a 24-hour adult bookstore in Hollywood agreed Wednesday to hire security guards to discourage customers from using it for lewd purposes.

The city attorney and county district attorney filed the civil suit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Le Sex Shoppe, 4459 Sunset Blvd. Deputy City Atty. Pamela Albers said men who paid a quarter to watch erotic videos in enclosed booths were walking out of the booths into the shop, exposing themselves and masturbating. She said neighbors have complained that men were meeting for sex in cars behind the shop.

Albers said lawyers for the book shop agreed in court to post warning signs telling customers they may not engage in lewd conduct on the premises. Also, uniformed security guards will patrol the shop to enforce the court agreement, she said.
