SAN DIEGO — San Diego State quarterback Todd Santos may be able to play Saturday night at Texas El Paso.
Santos, participating with his broken right wrist taped, ran the first-string offense throughout Wednesday afternoon’s practice.
“If (the wrist) continues to feel better like it has this week, it looks really good for Saturday,” Santos said. “Every day, it feels a lot better.”
Santos was injured three weeks ago against New Mexico. He did not play the following week at Stanford. Santos resumed practicing this week.
“He’s progressing pretty well, I think,” Coach Denny Stolz said after practice. “He appeared to be much improved today.”
If Santos is unable to start at UTEP, he will be replaced again by Jim Plum.
