An arrest warrant charging 18 counts of practicing medicine without a license was issued against a woman identified as Kathleen Mason, 33, who is said to have practiced medicine under the name of a real physician who lives in La Canada Flintridge. The Los Angeles city attorney’s office said Mason used the name and medical license number of Dr. Kathleen A. Smith to practice medicine in association with a real physician in Central Los Angeles. Mason disappeared when the real doctor became suspicious last June, and surfaced again writing illegal prescriptions and certifying disability insurance claims as a physician at a clinic on West Pico Boulevard, but disappeared a second time.
