A dozen people, including Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Randy Lanier, were charged by federal agents with running a major marijuana ring.
Lanier, 32, of Davie, Fla., was named in a criminal complaint filed in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. A DEA spokesman said Lanier was charged with conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute.
Lanier’s bond was set at $100,000.
According to the complaint, several Florida attorneys helped marijuana smugglers launder at least $30 million in profits through banks in Great Britain, Panama, Hong Kong and the British Virgin Islands.
