Seal Beach : Homeowners to Discuss New City Regulations

Share

Homeowners concerned that recent city regulations would not allow them to rebuild their homes in case of catastrophes such as fires, earthquakes or storms will meet to discuss the issue at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the city’s Mary Wilson Library.

The issue mainly affects the city’s Old Town section, where many older homes do not conform to modern building and zoning regulations.

“If a catastrophic loss would occur, there would be serious financial problems for many owners if properties could not be reconstructed.

Concern has been expressed about the use of a natural or man-made catastrophe to remove renters from the community as a matter of unintended public policy,” said Joseph E. Ribal, president of Old Town Rental Housing Improvement Assn.

Ribal said that city officials, including members of the City Council and Planning Commission, have been invited to attend.
