An attempt by two men to gain entrance to a Long Beach home by falsely claiming to be deputy Los Angeles County assessors prompted Assessor Alexander Pope to warn residents to be careful. He said the pair were well-dressed and drove away in a white Honda after the homeowner threatened to call police.
