The Iowa Supreme Court rejected a move by Iowa State linebacker Jeff Braswell aimed at forcing school officials to put him back on the football team. The high court said Braswell should have gone to the state Board of Regents instead of taking the issue to court.
The National Collegiate Athletic Assn. has declared Braswell ineligible to compete because of alleged rules violations that occurred while he was being recruited in 1984. The university appealed but then told Braswell he was off the team when a second NCAA committee upheld the earlier eligibility ruling.
