Redondo Beach : Building Curbs Proposed
The City Council introduced an ordinance Tuesday to revise development standards in residential zones designated R-3. If adopted at the council’s Nov. 4 meeting, the changes would lower density by limiting projects to no more than two contiguous lots with a total of six units. Current regulations allow up to seven units on two contiguous lots, and more than two lots may be combined.
The ordinance would also require a guest parking space for two- and three-unit projects on lots larger than 6,500 square feet. For four- to six-unit projects, two guest spaces would be required .
The ordinance would also encourage the use of exterior variations such as bay windows to eliminate the appearance of flat facades and “box-like” construction, according to Planning Director Harlan J. Curwick.
