Lomita : Mobile Home Change
The Lomita Mobile Home Tenants Assn. has asked the City Council to expand the mobile home ordinance to include more homes.
The ordinance, passed in January, sets guidelines to safeguard the rights of mobile-home residents when their parks are closed or sold.
When drafting the ordinance, Lomita used the state’s definition of a mobile home--a structure larger than 8 1/2 feet by 40 feet. Many Lomita Park residents live in smaller homes, said Betty Chapman, the association’s president.
The council agreed to refer the matter to the city attorney and suggested that the ordinance be changed to include all mobile homes.
