Egypt, under emergency law since Muslim extremists assassinated President Anwar Sadat in 1981, has announced the arrest of more than 50 Muslim fundamentalists for illegal arms possession and plotting sabotage. Interior Minister Zaki Badr was quoted by a government newspaper as saying those arrested had planned to sabotage the state-owned radio station at Alexandria and burn private businesses. Among those in custody, Badr said, were 42 university students arrested after demonstrations in Asyut and 11 students arrested in Beni Suef for stoning the office of a faculty dean. He did not say how many were arrested in Alexandria.
