Local News in Brief : Burbank Schools Chief Announces Retirement

Burbank Unified School District Supt. Wayne Boulding has announced that he will retire at the end of the school year in June.

Boulding, 59, who has been superintendent in Burbank since 1982, told school board members that he feels it is time that he step down. He said he wants to spend more time with his family, said board President Claud Field, adding that Boulding had discussed retirement often during the last two years.

Boulding has been involved in education for 36 years and has spent the last 24 years as superintendent in various California districts.

School officials said they soon will launch a nationwide search for Boulding’s replacement.
