Patient Given Heart After 5 Days on Jarvik

PITTSBURGH —
A middle-aged man who lived on a Jarvik-7 artificial heart for five days received a human heart early today at Presbyterian-University Hospital.
The patient, a resident of Butler, Pa., whose name has been withheld, was in critical but stable condition after the transplant.
