Police Force Targets Tipsy on Halloween
Expecting an increase in drunk driving over the Halloween weekend, the Fountain Valley Police Department announced Monday that it will boost the number of officers on patrol.
Police Sgt. Larry Griswold said extra traffic officers on the street will concentrate exclusively on drunken drivers. In addition, reserves will staff the jail to speed the intake of prisoners and allow arresting officers to get back on the street quickly, he said.
A similar strategy has been used during the Christmas holidays.
“The purpose is to put intoxicated drivers on notice,” Griswold said. “They may have to pay the piper if they drive intoxicated.”
