The restructuring program at Kroger Co., which led to the resignation of the company’s president, also took a big chunk out of third-quarter earnings of the second-largest U.S. supermarket operator. Kroger said it took a $94.4-million charge to earnings from costs associated with restructuring, leaving it with a net loss of $51 million. Kroger had profits of $45 million in the same three-month period last year.
