The parents of a young woman who was stabbed to death by an unknown assailant in a Saddleback College parking lot claimed Tuesday that the school failed to provide adequate security or lighting.

In a lawsuit filed in county Superior Court, the parents of Robbin Brandley claimed that county, state and community college officials are partly responsible for 23-year-old woman’s death last Jan. 18.

Brandley was leaving a school-sponsored piano concert and reception on campus that night when she was attacked as she walked to the parking lot, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit, filed by Santa Ana-based attorney Wylie Aitken, claimed that the college provided inadequate security despite a history of attacks in campus parking lots. No damages were specified.
