P.V. Estates : Lawn Machine Restrictions
The City Council this week unanimously introduced an ordinance banning noisy machines such as lawn mowers and leaf blowers by commercial businesses within 250 feet of residential property before 7 a.m. and after 7 p.m. weekdays.
The ordinance, which if adopted at the next council meeting Nov. 11 will become effective in six weeks, also bans the machines before 9 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and all day Sundays. Use also would be banned on major holidays.
The ordinance came at the urging of Councilman Ronald M. Florance, who previously said he had been disturbed on several Saturday evenings by leaf blowers operated by commercial gardeners at neighboring residences. He said the machines sounded “like 747s” and made it difficult to enjoy Saturday evening on his patio.
Florance was not present Tuesday.
