Bellflower : Industrial Park Plans OKd

After five months of delays, Downey developer George Holiday got a green light from the Bellflower City Council to proceed with plans for a $15-million industrial park.

In a 4-0 vote, with Councilman Ken Cleveland abstaining, the council approved Holiday’s plans Monday night for a 2.6-acre site at Artesia Place and Woodruff Avenue.

The major point of contention between Holiday and the city was a contract the council had asked Holiday to sign stating he would not build a mini-warehouse on the site as he had proposed in May.

In June, the council passed a 10 1/2-month moratorium on mini-warehouses.

At that time, Holiday refused to sign the contract, saying it would make it difficult to borrow money on the project, but he agreed Monday night to sign an affidavit, saying, “an affidavit will not have a negative impact on the property,” Holiday said. “At this point I’m just glad this hassle is over.”
