Nearly half the plastic surgeons responding to a national survey said they had remodeled their family members, and some augmented the breasts of their wives and daughters, according to a survey released in Los Angeles. Almost one-third of the surgeons had undergone plastic surgery themselves, most opting for nose jobs and face lifts, the two doctors who conducted the survey told the annual meeting of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Earlier this year, Dr. Eugene Courtiss, a plastic surgeon in Boston, and Dr. I. Kelman Cohen, professor of surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, sent questionnaires to every board-certified plastic surgeon in the country. They received a 40% response, or roughly 1,400 replies, Courtiss said.
