DENVER — President Reagan, in Colorado to campaign for GOP Senate candidate Kenneth Kramer, was greeted today by full-page ads signed by Rep. Timothy E. Wirth, the Democratic opponent.
“It’s indeed an honor to have you visit Colorado,” Wirth told Reagan in the ads appearing in The Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News.
“But while you’re here you might ask Ken Kramer a few questions,” Wirth said, suggesting that Reagan check Kramer’s voting record in the House on such issues as saving Social Security in 1983, the safe drinking water act, “cop-killer bullets” and the new omnibus drug bill. Wirth said Kramer voted against them all.
“Mr. President, it is a privilege to have you here in Colorado,” the ad concludes. “I truly look forward to working with you as a United States s e nator. With best wishes, Tim Wirth.”
Wirth and Kramer are seeking to replace Democratic Sen. Gary Hart, who chose not to run this year.
