The Region : Obstetrician Faces 5 Charges of Murder
A physician was charged with five counts of murder and 29 other felonies in the 1983-84 deaths of four babies and a fetus. The district attorney’s office said Dr. Milos Klvana, 46, an obstetrician, delivers babies at his offices in Valencia, Temple City, Montebello and San Fernando--or at the parents’ homes--because he has been unable to obtain and hold hospital privileges. Prosecutors said the deaths occurred because Klvana made several office or home deliveries with mothers whose high- risk status would ordinarily have prompted a competent physician to seek hospitalization. One of his midwives, Dolores Doyle, 34, of Montclair was also charged with two counts of murder and 22 other crimes.
