More than 5,000 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, designed to take infantry squads into combat and support them, will have been built before the Army tests whether they can survive attacks by anti-armor weapons, the General Accounting Office said. In a report to the Senate Governmental Operations Committee, the GAO said 5,000 of the 6,882 vehicles in the program will have been procured by the end of 1988, when live fire tests will be completed.
